Different Applications of Poly-Aluminum Chloride (PAC) Produced by Different Processes

This blog post article discusses the differences in applications of poly-aluminium chloride (PAC) produced by different manufacturing processes.
The production processes of PAC mainly include rotary drum drying and spray drying, with rotary drum drying further divided into plate-and-frame and non-plate-and-frame methods. This article describes the characteristics and advantages of PAC produced by these three processes in terms of their applications.

1. Drum Drying type (Non-Plate-and-Frame): This type of PAC has the highest production volume and the widest range of applications. It is suitable for general wastewater treatment. Its advantages lie in its lower cost and better performance compared to other water treatment products.

2. Drum Drying type (Plate-and-Frame): PAC produced by this manufacturing process is considered a higher-end product. There is a common misconception that PAC produced by rotary drum drying is inferior to that produced by spray drying. However, this is an incorrect notion. Plate-and-frame rotary drum PAC, which undergoes strict quality control, outperforms spray-dried PAC in terms of effective substance content and treatment effectiveness. Of course, it is also priced higher than spray-dried PAC. Many customers who are not familiar with PAC may mistakenly believe that PAC produced by rotary drum drying should be priced lower than that produced by spray drying. Only those who truly understand PAC would comprehend the difference between the two. High-end plate-and-frame rotary drum PAC can achieve an alumina trihydrate content of up to 35%, while it is difficult for spray drying to reach 30%. Additionally, compared to spray-dried PAC, rotary drum PAC has longer molecular chains, resulting in better treatment effectiveness.

3. Spray Drying type: This process is generally used for the treatment of drinking water and water in food factories. The advantage of spray-dried PAC lies in its ability to meet the corresponding quality standards without the need for extensive quality control measures, thanks to the special characteristics of the production process. It is priced lower than high-end rotary drum products.

However, each manufacturing process has its own significance, and it is subjective to determine which process produces the best product. Choosing the product that best suits one’s actual needs can lead to cost savings and achieve better results.
